Perniagaan songket menjadi pilihannya kerana keindahan kain tersebut yang merupakan warisan tradisional dan tidak lekang dek panas serta tidak lapuk dek hujan. Selain itu, keluarga mentua yang berniaga kain dan songket turut menggalakkan beliau untuk menjual songket.

''Semasa berniaga di rumah, iaitu pada tahun 1995, sambutan yang diterima memang di luar jangkaan. Pelanggan bukan sahaja daripada Semenanjung malah saya mendapat banyak pelanggan baru daripada Sabah, Sarawak dan Brunei.

''Melihat kepada minat berniaga dan sambutan yang diterima, suami membantu mencarikan kedai setahun selepas itu supaya saya mempunyai tapak yang tetap bagi meluaskan perniagaan,'' kata isteri kepada Siswadi Abdul Hamid ini.

Beliau menambah, pada masa kini, pelanggannya gemarkan songket yang bercorak bunga besar, berjalur dan kekotak bagi samping, kain panjang perempuan dan baju pasang bagi lelaki dan perempuan.

Kata Roslina, terdapat pelanggan yang menyukai songket India dan Pakistan kerana harganya yang murah.

''Tiga atau empat bulan sekali suami akan ke sana, memilih kain dan membawa corak rekaan yang dikehendaki mengikut kehendak semasa. Songket India dan Pakistan menggunakan kain jenis kapas dan kain kapas bercampur poliester,'' ujar ibu kepada seorang anak perempuan, Ainin Sofiya, 10 tahun.

Menurut Roslina yang telah 10 tahun berniaga songket di lokasi sekarang, pada hari ini, songket bukan sahaja dipakai semasa hari perayaan seperti hari raya atau perkahwinan tetapi dipakai pada hari Jumaat, ke pejabat, ke majlis rasmi dan tidak rasmi.

It may be tempting to sit back and relax during summer break, "But once school starts, along with after school activities and study hours, you'll be kicking yourself for not having kept up your energy!" states Melissa DeLancey, trainer at Clay Fitness in Manhattan. Enlist your friends to go running, biking, or walking two to four times a week. "It's a great opportunity to socialize and get fit," notes DeLancey. If you're one with the water, then pump up your pool routine with leg kicks and crunches (lifting your knees to your chest while holding the wall), in sets of twenty. To keep up a routine during school, "try starting each day with light stretching and yoga. All you need is ten minutes to relieve muscle tension, and it'll wake you and your muscles up!"

Just as important as maintaining your fitness is taking care of your skin, which can easily be damaged in summer. "When skin is exposed to sunlight over time, the top layer thickens and darkens as a defense," says Clinique dermatologist David Orentreich M.D. "This means you're more likely to have deeper, clogged pores." Stave off these blemishes by regularly cleansing, exfoliating, and wearing sunscreen. "No matter your skin tone, you should be using an oil–free, high SPF lotion," advises Orenetreich. If you do get a bad burn, however, prevent patchwork skin color by calming skin with a soothing lotion, exfoliating to even out color, and keeping the compromised area out of the sun. "Once you've been burnt, that area is gong to absorb UV light more so than the lighter surrounding areas," adds Orentreich.

As if you need another reason to stay out of the sun: "Your hair will probably need a detoxification or deep conditioning treatment by the end of summer," notes Russo, owner. "Especially if you've been out in the sun a lot, or have a lot of chlorine build–up." Women who color their hair should be extra attentive: "They tend to get bleached out, so it might be a good idea to bring their color down a tone or two." Try trading your beach waves for a nice structured cut, which Russo says is a big trend for fall. "We're doing very strong cuts and shapes right now—bold bangs, center parts, even the pixie cut," he adds. "It's a great way to get rid of damaged hair." If you're not down for such a drastic chop, at least plan to trim off a few inches. After all, split ends are hardly the best accessory for a knock–out, first day of school outfit!

Within the Malay community in Malaya and now Malaysia, there
is a culture, or a believed, or a standing order that between a snake and an Indian, the Malay would killed the Indian first. This thinking existed simply because, from history, the Indian highly respect the British colonial master in Malaya before and after independent. An unforgettable little black dress.I have always love Marni’s clothes & accessories because they are versatile, practical and effortlessly chic. But I don’t know about these. Funny that these ruffled creations are actually by Marni because it is really dramatic and bold. The bag reminds me of corals you see in the sea, or just loads of bright orange flowers blooming (it is from the FALL collection by the way). But whatever, I am definitely not a big fan of the choice of colour and shape.
Would you carry it? It doesn’t mean that Fall is all about dark tones. You can go all black or grey for the cold season but bright and bold accessories like these suede shoes & bags can do wonders to your entire ensemble. My pick is the Louboutin clutch. The unique shape and the colour— simply eye-catching.Seeing that this is a big trend for Fall 08′, I am currently on the look out for hammer pants. I like the fact that it looks very comfy. If you match it well with say, a cool jacket, it can make you look rather chic. One problem I have with hammer pants is that it might not be very flattering to my legs (hello fat thighs!) and it only looks good if a tight top is tucked into it.
The Nina Ricci one is unique because it is in satin and have a lot of folds while the Louis Vuitton ensemble (so Marc Jacobs by the way) is— strictly for tall stylish women who can pull off it off.

The media controlled by government should be free and non-partisan.I hate reading the newspapers nowadays because its usually bout the same thing. And its very different from what is reported at the alternative media. I guess its what we choose to believe.It is very obvious that local media are now been control by authorities.

But my question is,

Is that good to control the media?

Well, It is not good to LIE the public. The truths are all been hidden by the gov't . Majority of us act like a frog inside a well of being not knowing the truth of our country. I hope there will be more purity of media and things in our country. We shouldn’t let this carry to the future. It isn’t a healthy practice

My bulging Hadhari eyeballs can certainly detect more openness (literally) flipping through the entertainment section of those newspapers. There were obvious "control" during your tenure of the premiership, but on hindsight, those were acceptable. These days? Oh dear... mainstream media reads like junk, even tabliods are more entertaining. The mainstream media's spin is only successful in cementing people's distrust of the government.

Like I said, I’m hunting for my perfect bag (clearly, I need help!). I’m looking at way more bags than I ever have in my life in such a short period of time, so I’m starting to notice certain trends. Kate Spade has a rather overstated version that I’m not such a fan of, and then more successfully here although I still don’t like the bag.

PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad says he will not quit as adviser to Proton and Petronas voluntarily, adding that he prefers to be kicked out.

“If they want to take away my positions, they are welcome, as I am not dependent on them and not even if they give me RM15,000 a month. I am not interested. So anytime they say get out, I will get out, no problem,” he said.

Earlier when asked if he would relinquish the positions, he said: “It may be an option, if I feel that I have to do so. But I'd prefer if they kicked me out.''

He said crossing over to the Opposition was wrong, as they would be subjected to opposition policies.

“By forming a separate group, say at least 35 of them, this will cause the Government to collapse and the current Prime Minister will have to resign.

“Then if PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim tries to become the Prime Minister and if the votes go to him and then if Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak have the guts to step in, the 35 MPs can give their votes to him.

“When he (Najib) becomes the Prime Minister, Barisan Nasional remains in power, and it will be no loss to anyone except to Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi,” he told a press conference after his speech during a forum “Suntikan Semangat Satria” here yesterday.

The event was organised by NGOs known as Minda Melayu Kreatif, Kelab Cinta Amanah Melayu and Arena PJS14.

He was commenting on Anwar’s claims that certain MPs from Sabah were expected to “jump ship” by Sept 16.

On whether Mohamad Ezam Mohd Nor was a Trojan horse for his former party PKR, Dr Mahathir said: “He may be that (Trojan horse) but what I do know is that Anwar is anxious to be supported by Umno and he may want to join Umno at some stage, if he can become the Prime Minister.”

KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Sanusi Junid has been "relieved of his duties" as International Islamic University Malaysia president with immediate effect.
